Vintage Aircraft

This photo is  from c. 1930. The older girl in the photo was born about 1922. Her mother died in 1935. Have established it is the Von Hoffmann Aircraft Co. of St. Louis, MO and that the plane is likely a Ryan Brougham B-1.

  1. I find it interesting that the lines that can be seen point to Ryan design. Then again, this followed after Lindberg's famous flight across the Atlantic in a Ryan, I suppose back then it was likely that someone would steal a superior design.

  2. And the Von Hoffmann Aircraft Co. was a distributor for Ryan airplanes, so it makes sense.

  3. I have in my folder at SLU, Pius XII Memorial Library , the largest collection of news articles covering the on going history of the Von Hoffman Aircraft Co, My grandfather was killed in 1929, he was a flight instructor, killed doing what he loved. My great-grandmother thought so highly of the Von Hoffman Aircraft Co, she had thier company name inscribed upon my grandfathers stone,So I have pulled together the most comprehensive collection on him you will ever find.Look for the Walter Peterson Folder Aviation News
